Are headteachers allowed to see your instagram posts without your permission? - 778 - 06-09-2014 02:55 AM

My headmaster a long looked at my instagram account and told me to make it private. I found it rude to go on my instagram in the first place. I somehow remembered about that! Any help?
I meant that the headmaster WITHOUT AN INSTAGRAM ACCOUNT saw my posts.
Thanks Stella for your answer. It helped me a lot Smile

Anyone on the Internet can see your PUBLIC instagram posts without your permission. That is why they are called PUBLIC!

If you don't want other people to see them then make them PRIVATE. That is exactly the point your headmaster was making, which obviously went completely over your head.

Why would it be rude for your Headmaster to look at your Instagram, yet anyone else looking wouldn't be rude? That makes no sense.

You have your account set to public, which means anyone can view it. Your Headmaster knows that parents aren't as diligent as they should be in monitoring their kids' social media. He is trying to help you out by telling you to make your account private. He didn't tell you to DELETE it...just make it private, which is what a kid's account SHOULD be.

Instead of being all bent out of shape about this, thank him for caring about your safety.
