Should I Get Facebook? - Jami - 06-09-2014 10:23 AM

I have never really liked Facebook, but whenever I make a new friend, they always ask me if I have Facebook and I always say no, since I don't, but they usually try to persuade me to get one. I have a few friends that don't go to my school, and some family that live far away, so it would be nice to be able to connect with them. I know how to use it safely, and I can't see myself using it very often except for when I want to talk to friends and family I never see. So, do you think I should get it? I know it's dying down a bit, but I feel like it's a good resource to have.

If you have to ask a bunch or random strangers on YA, then you're not mature enough for a Facebook account.

Be secure in your beliefs. I don't have facebook either. Facebook keeps changing their privacy policies and settings. You never know what will and will not be exposed to the world to see.

Privacy is worth more to me that the perceived convenience of having a facebook account. I have email, and I have a phone. If people really want to get hold of me, they know how.

I have real friends (not just phoney facebook "friends") who use facebook, twitter, and google+.

They can keep up with me. I don't see any reason that I have to match them "tool for tool" every time a new "app" comes out.

I wish I would have never joined. It just increases your internet footprint. Plus when you see your friends that you haven't talked to in forever, there is nothing to talk about. Consider yourself lucky.
