Is impersonating an admin on a web chat illegal? - Andrew - 06-10-2014 11:02 PM

The site "chat avenue" has a video game chat I use, and there's this guy that keeps coming in and harassing everyone and whenever a mod shows up he disappears...The site can track anyone currently online via their IP address....So what I discovered is that I can type my screen name as "Administrator" and it doesn't do anything to stop that as other sites do....in the bottom of the page, it says "hacking/exploiting this chat is against the law and ISP/IP logs will be submitted to the authorities if caught" I just wanna know is this considered hacking if I log on with the name "Admin" or "Administrator" to scare this guy away or something, is that illegal and can they submit my IP address to the cops and charge me for hacking?? I'm not actually damaging the site or anything, I'm just impersonating an admin to get a guy to stop being an idiot. I know I could get banned but would they submit my IP to the cops? Also I can't use a proxy or anything because the site is flash based and it doesn't work on proxy sites. Any info to this would help and don't say "just ignore him" or whatever, that's not my question. Question is can I be charged for hacking by putting my screen name as Administrator. Thanks!
Jimmi, elaborate? The police enforce the laws, lol....I just want to know if this is one or just a scare tactic?

the law only applies if there is someone to enforce it

impersonation is illegal, however if everyone was arrested for everything they've ever done, we'd ALL be in jail
