Should I trust an SEO company that got penalized by Google? - 472 - 06-12-2014 11:38 AM

I use a company called 1SEO.com and they got hit with something called the Penguin update, which is basically spammy links. I was told from another SEO company. My trust is shaken. Should I still use them?
They were hit with a specific penguin update. I forget which one. Apparently in the local seo space its known.

NO THEY WERE PENALIZED FOR A REASON. YOUR ADSENSE WILL BE BANNED SOON IF YOU CONTINUE

the SEO company did not get penalized by the google change. The sites they administered are what would have been impacted.

Penguin is about 2 years old now.
If the company was doing it, I doubt they have been for about 1.5 years, at least.
If you have had good luck with them, it should be a non-issue now.

Perhaps they over promoted their own site which lost search ranking as part of a penalty, it's possible but unlikely that some would have tracked the ranking of a competitor's sales site and it's less likely that they would have stats on the competitors clients, could just be smoke.

There certainly is some risk when SEO companies have to meet a quote or promised performance, it may be better to oversee your own SEO campaign, hiring different specialists to create different back-link types. You ma be in a better position to control the rate and source of new backlinks.

they were over promoted their own site which has been lost search ranking as part of a penalty. It happens to everyone, you should make brand your site or business by choosing the unpenalized company. Google penalized sites by their updates like panda, penguin and hummingbird. so be careful putting your links towards to spammy websites

Do one thing Analysis your website DOMAIN AUTHORITY and CITATION

Compare present rankings and old ranking in all aspects.

Check your Google Webmasters and Analytics data changes. Download your Back links on Webmasters Tools and check the back links. If those links are good and they having height Domain Authority so your ranking will improve more and more, No need to think bad about your Optimizers. If some thing went wrong among in those points ask your Optimizers and clarify your doubts.

I checked 1seo pagerank and their pretty good at PR 4, and the their alexa rank is at 200,000, this mean they know the game and they know how to rank. If 1seo was hit by panda they wouldn't be a PR4

Depends if they recovered. Penguin 1 was almost 2 years ago and most sites that were hit by that either don't exist now or recovered long ago.

Google "Rewind SEO encyclopedia of risky links" for a very good list of link types and practices you should avoid in any SEO company.
