-Short and to the point - most people don't read past the 3rd paragraph, at which point you would have lost 80% of your readers, according to statistics.
-Must include something of value to the reciever. Either product, service, or information relevant to them and their industry. Or else they will not become interested. You cannot, for exmample, sell t-shirts to a a burger joint.
-Honest and Personal. Business these days is built on relationships
