I have been taking photos for about 4 years now, almost 2 of these I have wanted to be a photographer professionally. I am also studding a Level 3 BTEC in photography which I have finished the first year out of two and then I intend to study photography at uni.
So Far I use the following to advertise my photography Facebook (since September 2010 and only 31 likes), Twitter (10 followers), Deviant Art (over 700 watchers), Flickr, Tumblr (6 followers), and Etsy (for 5 months and so far made 1 sale).Off of the internet I have made flyers and been passing them around the last couple of weeks but still nothing.
Does anyone have any tips of how I can either improve how im advertising or know any sites/ways that will help?

Etsy is a wonderful place to sell art and it can take a while to make sales. I've been selling on there since May and have had over 50 sales. It's taken a lot of work and knowledge of SEO to get found. If you need any help, I would love to answer your questions so you can have a better chance of success! I advertise on Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, Wanelo.com and Craftjuice.com - all are great!

You are already using some of the top sites, so I don't see any problems there. I'm looking over your stuff and I'm noticing a lot of issues with your marketing message.
Effective marketing provides customers with a reason to purchase a product or service. It relates to them, provides them with value, and most importantly shows how the product will be of benefit to them. I've listed several questions below that a marketing strategy should address in order to be successful.
Who: Who I am I targeting? Who will purchase my services? Who is my competition? Who will benefit from my service? Who are your previous clients?
What: What am I selling? What is the benefit of my service? What am I willing to spend on advertising? What is the difference between me and every other photographer? What is my pricing structure?
Where: Where are you located? Where is your studio? Where does your business operate? Where can I see your previous work?
When: When do I have time to market? When do I have time for photography?
Why: Why will people hire me? Why would they hire someone else? Why are you different? Why is your service better? Why should I hire you?
How: How will I deliver my product? How can I connect with people? How can I build a reputation? How am I perceived as a photographer?
