Random Indian proposal? - Janessa - 06-14-2014 11:11 PM

Okay, so I was on Google+ a while ago and some random guy added me, which I have sometimes so I didn't really think anything of it. The difference though is that this guy private messaged me, which I never had before. I just messaged him back to be polite and was started chatting. He lives in India and is 19. I just kept chatting with him cause he was kinda nice, but he didn't speak English very well so it was kinda hard to understand him.
Anyways, we talked for about a day and then he randomly said "If I proposed, what would you say". I thought I had understood wrong so I was like "what?" and he said he was asking me to marry him. He said that he had a sister living out here and in 3 years he was going to move out here to Canada to live near her and go to school. Of course I said no cause I have never even met him and I am only 15. He said that's okay cause I'll be 18 by the time he comes here and we can go on a date before we get married when he comes to visit. I know how absolutely ridiculous this sounds, and I said no again but I don’t know what to think. I looked it up and apparently they have arranged marriage there but I found nothing that could explain why he would have proposed before we even met. Is that just how it is there? Or is someone seriously trying to prank me. I'm so confused!

a lot of people from foreign countries act like they are 19 year olds. i would stop talking to him immediately! even block him or delete your account. they can try to scam you, take your money, etc. do not trust what is on the other side of your computer screen. it's a scary world out there, and being 15 you are an extremely easy target for them. be safe, be careful, and don't be fooled. delete the account.

Happens a LOOOOTTT actually. I wish I was joking but I can't go more than a week without some random guy messaging me on Facebook confessing his undying love for me even though literally everything on my profile is marked private except my profile picture.

I ignore them. Best to just delete things and pretend they didn't even happen.
