Neither. Facebook is focusing more on applications to allow you to communicate to your friends rather than you interacting with them yourself. I constantly get spam from Facebook notifications each day from some application updating or someone wanting me to use this nifty little thing they found.

Myspace is essentially trying to become like Facebook in an attempt to win back its members.

So, neither. They both fail at their intended jobs and if you want to find a way to keep in touch with your friends, e-mail and IM works just fine.

toss up. depends on what you're really looking for.

I personally prefer MySpace because it is more customizable and has a more personal appearance - the layouts, music and video players, edited text, photo editing and has many of the same apps FB has.

the downside is that MySpace users are there to meet new people, network & promote whereas Facebook is more about keeping in touch with the people you ALREADY know. I can't count how many random requests I get on a daily basis from strangers, bands, venues, comedians etc and it can get annoying!

Big FB turn off: they own any pix/videos/content you submit to their servers.

quoted directly from their terms of service: You hereby grant Facebook an irrevocable, perpetual, non-exclusive, transferable, fully paid, worldwide license (with the right to sublicense) to (a) use, copy, publish, stream, store, retain, publicly perform or display, transmit, scan, reformat, modify, edit, frame, translate, excerpt, adapt, create derivative works and distribute (through multiple tiers), any User Content you (i) Post on or in connection with the Facebook Service or the promotion thereof subject only to your privacy settings or (ii) enable a user to Post, including by offering a Share Link on your website and (b) to use your name, likeness and image for any purpose, including commercial or advertising, each of (a) and (b) on or in connection with the Facebook Service or the promotion thereof.

I use both. I like that most of my friends are on myspace and my family is mostly on facebook. So i use both to stay in contact with everyone. So my why would be is to stay in contact with everyone, share pictures, chat and know what is going on with everyone.
