Is there a gov site you can get a template of a will? - hoopla32 - 06-15-2014 06:37 PM

I was thinking of making a Will, but I know there are free places as well, but I don't know if I can trust a website. Is legal zoom a good place to make one? Those are not free, so was wondering is there is a good government site which has a free template. Really don't feel like paying money for a piece of paper. Can I make my own?

There don't seem to be any government agencies that provide free wills. There are lots of websites and forums that will help you for free. Consumer Reports Magazine had a free guide in past years. Websites like wikihow.com and nolo.com (free to visit - i don't work for them) have wills.
Generally, you want to itemize your possessions and money. Write clearly who you want them to go to. Name a friend or family member as the Executor. Sign it in front of 2 witnesses. That would hold up in court as your last will and testament.
