Internet: Is Verizon better than Earthlink? - Elphaba - 06-15-2014 07:44 PM

We currently have Earthlink for internet. Our plan is 3mps.

Unfortunately, every night when we try to watch Amazon Prime or Netflix, it freezes up every five minutes.

It's gotten to the point where it takes us about two hours to watch a 45 minute show and we give up.

Verizon offers internet where we live, but their plan is twice as much and still only goes up to 3mps.

Would it be any better??
Earthlink says that we are at the highest available plan.
FiOS is not available at my address.

Verizon says that their 3mbps would be faster than Earthlink's 3mbps because Earthlink uses Verizon's line, whereas with Verizon, we'd be using them directly. That sounds logical. Is it, though?

Not if it isn't verizon fios.
Edit: Verizon and Earthlink use the same phone line then. erizon will be slightly better because it's their phone system but for such minimal difference, it isn't worth what you gain. Get some cable internet if you want some fast internet.

Verizon is faster, but it might be more economically viable for you to pay for the next fastest plan from Earthlink
