Will Skype use up a lot of internet data usage still if I don't do calls but use it to send messages? (SMS)

some tip: turn off all social media feature/ disconnect all connected accounts

If you are signed in to Skype but not making any calls, Skype will use on average 0-4kbps. When you make a call, Skype will use on average between 24-128kbps.
