So i live in a dorm and the school wi-fi is absolutely terrible. I can't even hook up my PS3 to it so i can't play online. I'm looking into buying my own wi-fi nut don't know where to look. I dont have a phone outlet in my dorm. So is there i way i could wirelessly connect to wi-fi?

for the router, i have seen some with usb ports to be able to use the internet from a portatile broadband device, look it up because i dont know much about it

Check with your dorm administration if they can let you use Mi-Fi from Verizon.
