I need help with SEO, who has good tips? - JJcolorado - 06-16-2014 11:38 AM

SEO can be a tedious challenge. Where is a good site to help find information on driving more traffic to my site and learning how Google and Yahoo work? Here is a good article http://www.modeltemplate.com/tips/SEO/seoIntro.html

The best resources are forums and blogs where every single search engine hiccup is analyzed -- are the datacenters changing, is there a major update and what are the factors, etc. Choose forums and blogs where discussions are made by knowledgeable webmasters and SEO experts -- and advertising is not allowed.

I highly recommend the following:

WebmasterWorld.com http://www.webmasterworld.com has different sections that cover various aspects of search engine optimization, and each section is participated in by respected webmasters and even search engine employees (e.g. there's a GoogleGuy that responds to Google topics)
Google Press Releases http://googlepress.blogspot.com/
Matt Cutts Blog http://www.mattcutts.com/blog/ (Matt is a Google software engineer)
Digitalpoint Yahoo Forums http://forums.digitalpoint.com/forumdisplay.php?f=6
SearchEngineWatch's MSN Forums http://forums.searchenginewatch.com/forumdisplay.php?f=8

Those are good resources mentioned in that other post. Here's a short version of how I generated about a million clicks a month on a starter software companies site. Remember this took almost three years total.

1) Blog, knowledge bases and anything where the customer can interact. ONLY use ones that utilize "natural naming" for posts. i.e. the answer is titled "xyz.com/Generating_Web_Traffic" as opposed to "xyz.com/inedx.php?trafficID=4"
2) Use PRWeb, or other well optimized portals to generate links to your site. PLAN and USE a keyphrase strategy.
3) Take the time to plan what keyphrases you want and are not highly competed for. Maybe go after 'Real Estate in Colorado' rather than 'Real Estate.' Submit to DMOZ.org and MATCH phrases in page titles, meta tags and text. DON'T TRY TO CHEAT by repeating phrases on purpose, etc.

Also, visit the YAHOO Computer Geek Team regularly to stay well informed.

GODSPEED and Good Luck!!
