there is no way to hide them - they are the reason facebook exists
the only option would be adding people you want to hide them from to your restricted list

I believe that can be done in face books privacy settings.

Go to your privacy settings and select "only me" or else "don't show in newsfeed".
You can also can friends to your restricted list.

On each post, you can set privacy settings, and you can also set overall privacy settings for a default (you can change this default on individual posts).
