I was on Facebook the other night and saw a woman on my friend list? - Cynthia C - 06-17-2014 04:13 PM

accusing another mutual friend of ours of something that wasn't true-the great number of people who jumped in and sided with this woman against my friend, believed her every word, even though the accuser didn't reveal my friends name, she posted a photo of my friends children, she had an issue with the clothing of one of the children, she misinterpreted the childs outfit, saying it was insulting to her religion, I was the only person that stood up for my friend, people were cursing her out, it was horrible to say the least, this...I told them that this is akin to a witch hunt, and continued to defend my friend who wasn't on FB- as it started around 3:00 AM, I was then called names by the accuser by her 'best team-mate' while not one of my so-called friends jumped in to help me defend her, I asked why she chose to villify this woman publicly and not PM her, so that she could defend herself privately, she lied and told me that she had, but this was at least a 1/2 hr into her ripping this woman apart...the next day I saw a public appology from my friend, explaining that she would never intentionally hurt anyone, and what her child was wearing was not an intended insult against anybodies religion, that it was misinterpreted, I left a comment 'I know your heart', one other woman made a like comment...I looked before I unfriended the woman that started this horrible trouble...and I see that a few of these people... 'my so-called friends' were joking with her, and as chummy as could be...I PM the woman that I defended, and asked if she had seen what this woman called her and accused her of publicly, I told her that I never expect a pat on the back, but I really thought that she would have mentioned, 'maybe?' that it was nice of me to stand up for her...I'm anxious to read her reply...and finally!!! to the point...did I do something wrong by defending this woman? I am very upset, and quite down over this.

I think you need to take a break from your keyboard, and take some deep breaths. Personally, you should have blocked that trouble maker immediately as you know going down these type of FB slippery roads can lead to trouble.

Don't read too much into this. Take a break for a couple of days and it will blow over.
