What should I do when my default search engine is Google but it redirects me to Ask? - 774 - 06-18-2014 02:22 PM

So I use Google Chrome and my default search engine is http://www.google.co.in.But after I downloaded a torrent of Sim City 4 Deluxe Edition (which is not working properly and I uninstalled it),my search engine is trovigo.com and the search results are from search.ask.com.I checked the Google Chrome settings and I changed everything related to this to Google. But still this happens. Now I usually search from the address bar and it really pisses me off when some other lame website like Trovigo or Ask comes up.I can take Google only when I type in the complete URL, which is not comfortable all the time.I want to search in the address bar and want only results from Google.I googled on what I should I do when this happens and I found in one forum that it must be a malware. Now I previously had Norton Internet Security which is now over and cannot be used to get rid of this.I even went to Google Support and did what they said to remove malware. But it still happens. What should I do?? Should I download Malware Bytes from CNET??

The ASK tool bar is a BHO. Browser helper object. BAD Very Bad.

Not a Virus so your anti virus program did not detect it.

Download and run Junkware Removal Tool JRT = It is Free and will remove ASK.
This is the web site:

scroll down a bit to the little back download ICON.

First try going to settings in chrome and check extensions....if there is the unwanted toolbar enabled there please disable it...or else you can go to add or remove programs and you can see ask toolbar over there..please remove it...

Uninstall the search engines and toolbars that you do not use by going to the Control Panel and be careful when installing software that you are not reinstalling these toolbars.
