If you have Google Webmaster Tools, then you can tell Google that your switching your domain names, to avoid any SEO consequences, Wink

Log into your Google Webmaster Tools => Click on the verified website ( that you want to change domain => Site configuration => Change of Address => Follow the instructions

Hope this helps you.

I've heard answers on both sides. I believe it does knock you back a bit in the rankings, but can easily be overcome by good SEO practices. Get good meta tags, descriptions, titles, headers and good content with your keyword in it a few times. Look for good blogs, directories, article submission and forums with high page rank to get good backlinks to. It will take time but is worth it. By doing the meta tags, etc. you have already done more than most websites have done. Good luck!
