Do computers use bytes when in sleep mode? - Zach - 06-20-2014 08:18 AM

I like to watch netflix when I go to sleep. My computer goes into sleep mode after 1 hour of inactivity. My browser is left up, but netflix redirects its to its home page. My house hold used 375 gb last month and the ISP didn't like that. My question is could the fact that I leave my browser up when my computer goes into sleep mode be whats causing the high internet usage? Thank you

No, your computer will not be pulling any data while in sleep mode. Depending on how many devices you have connected to your home internet connection it could be any of them such as mobile devices which do not enter sleep mode. Also Netflix is a pretty bandwidth heavy service which can easily pull a lot of data even in short periods of time.
