I'm pretty sure that if you access the internet on-line / hard-wired, that there is an internet address that can be obtained. It is all numbers, and is separated by periods. Pretty long - probably 14 to 18 characters.
When people access the internet on a smart-phone, using a data plan, and NOT a wireless signal - is there an identifier to the smart-phone being used?

The number you're referring to is called an IP address (Internet Protocol) and every device (computer, smartphone, TV, DVD player, etc.) that connects to the Internet has to have one of these addresses to work.
