I've gone to links that say they will set it up for you but instead it wants you to complete survey after survey of nothing but bs. Is there an easy way to do this?

you got tricked into taking a survey... the website that tricked you made money from you, and possibly stole some of your personal information
never ever fall for the survey tricks...

Sorry it is not possible. But you can control who can see your status updates, photos, friends etc. by privacy setting.

No, those apps are fake Facebook has even made a statement about these being scams that hack your account and give your computer a virus. Even being tagged in one of those picture may cause you account to be hacked.
