Last Night I was adding downloads such as Google chrome and java. But when I shut down the computer, and turned it back on all the changes were gone? What happened?

Aliens! Just kidding. Try to re-do everything and do a proper shutdown. If you just flipped the switch and rebooted it improperly the computer can't save any changes.

I did, desktop and shut down at the bottom of it.
