Are my pictures good? - 069 - 06-22-2014 09:05 PM

A few of my pics won a gold key in Scholastic art Contest over the summer, but I was wondering if I could get feedback on my more recent pics; I'm just giving the IG because it's easier to view than my flickr, which is completely unorganized.
Usually when I post on yanswers people just say its poorly constructed and "teenage snapshots without meaning" but if my photo is already balanced, I don't necessarily always use rule of thirds, and they do have meaning, nonetheless. Feedback?
Most of the pictures are shot with a 24-105mm 4.0 canon lens, but some are shot with a 50 mm 1.8
Also, they're not all of me. I have about 3-4 models in my feed, but given the fact that I'm only in highschool, most people are too shy to model for me, so I take pictures of myself. I'm doing a 365, so I don't have someone to take pictures of everyday. Sorry if I appear psychologically damaged to you >_<

You have a good eye, very good bunch of pictures in my opinion.

Meh, they're OK. They are more like photo manipulation than straight photography, which is fine if that's what interests you.

I'm far more interested in the psychology of someone who appears unable to upload a picture if it doesn't include herself in it. Vanity? Massive insecurity? Not getting enough attention? What is it that compels people to assume that everyone wants to see them again, and again, and again? And on top of that, the cheesy quotes.

Somewhere in time, a Smiths record is on repeat...

Mostly they are reasonable shots but I wouldn't say that any one stands out as "remarkable" to me.

I'm going to tell you the truth whether you like it or not. So, I'm sorry but I'm not going to sugar coat this.

They are not for me. All I see are boring teenage selfies, none are remarkable in any way whatsoever. However, they aren't badly taken. You do display some skill with a camera - the problem is what you are taking pictures of - the subject matter bores me to tears.

Once you realise there is a whole interesting world out there to photograph, with real people, doing real interesting things, in interesting places, I'm sure your photography will improve.

Good luck!!
