Every time I try to send one on my kindle fire hd it says an error occurred while sending the message, what do I do

This could depend.
If you've sent messages a lot before you could be on DM limit and that really sucks. I've been through it. You can send a maximum of 250 DMs per day, if you go over this, BOOM, DM limit.
I'd wait perhaps an hour then check again.
