He still shows up as a friend on my phone but when I click it and go on his profile it has the option to add him as a friend and everything is private. When will he disappear from my list? Or how can I take him off myself. Don't know why he is still showing up.

Try checking if he's your friend on your friend list while on your computer. If he is, just wait it out, maybe, two or three days, and see if he gets deleted. If he doesn't, you'll have to contact the Facebook developers, and have them remove him for you.
