Doing a research project on Brand communities, and was wondering: do b&q have any online brand communities? including forums etc? ...Or, have they had a forum in the past but closed it down for whatever reason.

No. B&Q is a low cost retailer and would not particularly want to support a forum that focussed on their service rather than the products, even though their returns policy is actually very good.
