Are there any ways to promote better sleep? - Dorothy - freak magnet - 06-24-2014 12:42 PM

I do fall asleep reasonably easily but then awaken within the hour and then every hour or so after that.
Thanks for the great tips. I do usually sleep with a night light ...especially in a strange place. I will try some of those ideas tonight....starting with the bath.

Lock up the Internet. And put your phone away as the light emitted will trick your brain its daytime. Have a cool bath and wind down before sleeping.

dozens of reasons for that.

easiest one to fix is = GET OFF the computer
1 -2 hours before sleeping.
Proven to disrupt the sleep functions.

keep a Dark room
keep a Cool room,
drink a 8 oz of water (nothing else)
1 hour b4 sleep.
use ear plugs.

any night light equipment turn away
from u or cover with tape.
turn OFF phones - no really.
your brain does get addicted to it
being on.
will wake u to check on it.

Get a set time to sleep.
with in a 30 minute window +or - 15min.

*Don't eat heavy meals right before sleep.
* Avoid caffeinated drinks and alcohol.
* Cut out all sourcesof of sound and light as you may be sensitive to either or both.
* Apparently drinking cherry juice is good for making you feel sleepy.
* Listening to white noise if anxiety or negative thoughts are keeping you up. You can download it or get an app for it or simply listen to a radio station with no signal.
* Listen to relaxation tapes.
* Curl your toes, hold for a few seconds and release. Keep repeating this and it helps to relax your mind and body.
Hope this helps and sweet dreams Smile

That's quite severe insomnia. Recommend you see your doctor sooner rather than later, as quality sleep is essential to cellular health.

Get well soon :-)
