I don't think you need an internet connection.. I used to play old Xbox games on my 360 all the time without internet connection. You should get San Andreas for PC though, it's much more fun (cause you can mod it so much, and make it so much better).

all original xbox games can be played on the 360 but the graphics and features such aas online mode will be most probably non-existant. you only need the disk to play, no updates necessary.

It all depends on the game. I can play Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas on my Xbox 360, but not Tony Hawks Underground Skating 2. I am not sure what determines if a game is playable from Xbox to Xbox 360, all I know is some work, and some dont.

Internet Connection has nothing to do with it.

No you don't need an Internet connection to Play old Xbox games on the new Xbox. I played Fable a little while ago and finished it for the 18th time. (lol I know 18 times but man that's a good game!)

You don't need an internet connection unless you are using live..

51% of XBOX games play on the 360.

GTA: San Andreas doesn't need internet for anything. The whole game and capabilities are on the DVD. There are no upgrades or patchs needed for the Second Edition Game.
