i can edit the settings in timeline but i am unable to edit few things.
i want only my friends to like and comment on my public posts...but everyone who can view my profile are liking and commenting on my public posts...
and my cover pictures are viewed by everyone but i dont want everyone to like my cover photos..i want only my friends to like and comment..idk how to do it..plzzzz help.

you dont seem to understand how facebook works
if your friends can see your stuff, they can like and comment on it, there is no way to prevent that if they can see it
people who arent your friends can still see the things you post if your friends like or comment it

For anything you would like to share with privacy to your selected audience, you'll need to use the dropdown menu to restrict who share and comment ,like on your posts

you can select the friends whom you want to show your status and whom you don't want to show. Just click the button before the button post while posting any thing and you will see a lot of options.

Good stuff, me and my boyfriend are both addicted to facebook and we use http://www.facesoftware.com which makes facebook more fun.

As you want your posts should be liked and commented by your friends only then you don't need to go for privacy setting just see on the right hand side of post there will be an option of customization from there you can change that.
And for hiding your cover pic you will need to go to privacy setting and from there you can change settings in photos that who can like and comment on picture. As well as it can be changed from the photo itself..

It is simple Just go to settings beside the home button then click on the privacy setting, In that you can see three options
1. Friends
2. Public
3. Only me
then select who can see your posts as friends.
