Why do Legit and Friendly Websites, let ads that give virus infections and scams? - john - 11-09-2012 09:11 AM

I find websites like Facebook, Youtube, Aol, and even Yahoo itself let these stupid ads go on.
I know the websites get paid but why let the the dangerous ads on their websites?

Because these ads pay that much.

Also, (personal opinion here), they hope the user knows that these are shady websites and won't click on them. That's why they're in the corner, in a small, close-able box, skip-able, and other what-not to make the ad as ignorable as possible.

Facebook, YouTube, AOL and Yahoo are not the ones that pick the advertising directly. Most advertising is handled by a gateway company such as AdChoice that collects users data to cater advertising to their interests.

Edit: Also keep in mind that some viruses are actually tracking cookies being installed to your hdd.
