I know I can click on the "groups" button in the left hand column, but that just shows the groups that I have joined. How can I view all groups, so I can browse through them?

You cannot simply see a list of all groups on Facebook as that would be hundreds of thousands to go through and would take up way too much space. If you are looking for certain groups then search that group in the search bar.
