I'm just curious. I know quite a few people have put theirs on standby mode because of exams and now that exams are over, they have re-activated their accounts again so that could be the cause.
I checked before the weekend and it said I had 598 friends, now two days later it says I have 633 friends. I thought the above reason might be a possibility but how is it possible that Facebook missed 35 people?!

maybe your facebook is hacked
maybe your facebook hasn't been updated in a while, and it might take time to totally update

Ha ha I just asked exactly the same question! Must be a mess up somewhere....
