Question about facebook friends groups? - Donny - 11-09-2012 09:25 AM you know how on facebook you can put people into different friends groups? like family/friends/school friends/etc. I was wondering if people can figure out what group you put them in? Also, on posts where you can pick who is allowed to see stuff. If a person is in two groups. and you block one group from seeing it, but not the other, can that person see it? And is there a way to tell on someone else's posts who they blocked or allowed to see it? Thanks! - Juniper - 11-09-2012 09:34 AM People are not notified when you place them in a friend list unless you do it personally. Aside from having access to your profile, a person could only speculate as to what lists any given friend has them in. Per the Facebook help center, if a friend is a member of more than one list, and those lists have conflicting privacy settings, the more restrictive privacy settings will always be respected. So if you block list #1 from seeing a status, all members of list #1 will be blocked, regardless of also being in list #2 (which was not blocked from the post). Theoretically, if you block person A from seeing a post, but don't block person B, person A could find out about that post and deduce that he or she was blocked from seeing it. But they would not know who else was blocked unless they go through a mass effort of contacting all your other friends and asking them about said post. |
