How can I promote myself to become twitter famous/get lots of followers, fast? - Paddy - 10-01-2012 10:09 AM

I'm having a competition with my friend to see who can get most followers haha.

Follow people if you see if they can follow you back. Then try to have Follow Fridays (with the hashtag #FF), which are usually promoting other people's twitters every Friday. the people that you mention will do it for you Wink

Well the best free method you can use is an follower exchange website.
I personally use http://www.socialclerks.com/ as it provides also facebook likes, youtube subs and views among other things.

The best way to get lots of followers in a hurry is to use http://www.socialwizard.net Traffichitters can target followers better if you are planning to use the account to advertise and make money. If its just a competition you don't need them that targeted.

Please do not listen to people that tell you the same stuff with follow-unfollow. If you want followers you need to answer the question: "WHAT kind of followers?"

"What do you want to be famous for?"

People follow Twitter accounts based on Interest. You do not want to have automated accounts following you, you want readers and people who listen what you have to say, so:

1. Have something interesting to say about a specific topic like a hobby or your passion

2. Find accounts via sites like wefollow.com or twellow.com to find influencial people on Twitter about that topic and try to interact with them by retweeting or tweeting related topics

3. Get yourself a clear education on how Social Media works, its not some childish game - its something strategic. Trevor: I recommend you the free course from HootSuite called HootSuite University 101

I understand you might have a little private competition going on only and its not so serious. But think of this: just adding followers to your account doesnt prove anything. If you do a competition than do it with ONE topic. If you want to get "fake" followers you can always use websites that tell you they add followers to your account in exchange for money. But even those followers usually unsubscribe if you do not have anything interesting to say.
