and other countries, however I wish to have followers from England and Scotland as that is where my businesses are based. Any websites out there? Any tips? Thanks

Go to http://search.twitter.com. Click advanced and you can specify what location you are looking for people in.

I'm British (London England) and 95% of my MySpace friends are American. Why? Because Brits simply do not communicate, and do not respond to messages/comments.
My page is just five months old http://myspace.com/jim-bbbw with over 800 comments, all from Americans.
I guess Twitter would be the same - waste of time trying to find or friend up Brits
