I am an amateur twitter user with only around 38 followers, i have had twitter for about a month or two because my girlfriend wanted me to make an account, any ideas on increasing the number of followers?

-tweet original and funny stuff
- don't steal tweets
- tweet in hashtags
- follow people
- don't wait for a follow back
- add a creative bio/name/username and maybe profile picture to your profile
- don't be too pushy and ask for a follow back/number/email

Hi Tom! Welcome to Twitter. It's great you took your gf's advice, this site is very convenient for short and quick communications. You can increase your followers by telling people about your new twitter account. How? Post a status on your facebook or other social networking sites that you're now on Twitter to let your other friends know. Another effective way is to check out trends from the homepage and tweet about a trend. Or you can tweet in a catchy hashtags. Make sure your profile pic and bio are interesting too.
