Starting today I noticed that there are ads on facebook in the middle of people's pages including mine. I was wondering if that is preventable?

Facebook is such a sellout its full of ads all over the place

Unfortunately, you can't. That's the only think that keeps facebook free. The ads are based on the information you have put in your profile.
