I'm trying to figure this out, too. I think that we have to find ways to make ourselves more interesting. Perhaps we need to sensationalize ourselves more?

Honestly I've tried everything. The only thing that worked for me was TweetAttacks. I now have 64,001 followers and am growing each day. You should definitely check it out if you are serious about getting loads of twitter followers.
