i went on a website which says it gets you more twitter followers. i went on it once. now, it keeps popping up on my twitter updates saying 'get more followers by following this link etc etc..' without me even visiting the site! is there a way i can stop this happening?

Well, if you were smart enough, you could have thought "Hmm, this website might have a virus".
Go scan your computer for virus, then clear your cache.

i suspect that if this is not twitter or a site sponsored by them it is more likely to be a con and prehaps adware to get you to spend money, plz do a scan to see if the problem can be dealt with.
