I made it so I wouldn't see someone on my newsfeed ('only important' or whatever it is) so now I never ever see their updates at all (unless i go on their profile).
How do I reverse that??
Because as they never come up on my newsfeed I can't select the little downwards arrow that is in the upper right corner of their post.
So how do I change it so that I can see them on my newsfeed again?

You gotta go to their profiles and subscribe them back.
Then their latest news will appear back.

Go to that user profile on mouse hover on Friends tab you will see a option show in news feed select and tick on it.
In Settings also you can customize which updates you want to get notification for.
