You're losing that will because Twitter is a stupid fad that is fading fast. Once people realize that nobody wants to hear about how often they go to the bathroom, they're going to get bored.
The only way to get more followers is to be more interesting. That is likely not going to happen.

The honest answer is that you shouldn't obsess about how many followers you have. If you want to get more followers, I would recommend following people that you have find interesting by category & they might follow you back. The other option is to be *interesting* in your tweets, something that is far too subjective in my opinion.
