Ads on Facebook seem to have information from my net history and email, how? - MXS - 11-09-2012 09:51 AM

The ads I see on Facebook seem to be personalized from me, based on the emails I receive and / or my internet history.

I know that Facebook pulls information from my profile, but I don't know how it would be getting information from my email. GMail obviously has ads based on my email, but they don't share that with Facebook.

Does anyone know how Facebook is getting this? Is it through cookies?

the ads dont run trough fb, they run trough outside ad agencies using those cookies.

they have new programs now that basically see where you go on the internet and things like that, so they can see your interests, and put ads on your homepage that apply to you...creepy huh??

Heres a hint - don't expect any privacy from Facebook.By default everything is public. And yes i do think that theyare allowed to look at what you've clicked on (within reason - such as Facebook links and companies who deal with them)
