Yes. It will be like an iPod. My husband puts his on hold while he's deployed. All the apps still work just not the calling or texting.

Yes. If you have a wireless internet connection you can use your phone for pretty much anything except make phone calls.

You have to be connected to the Internet in order to use some apps (such as Facebook and Safari). That can either be over the cell network or on a local Wi-Fi network. If AT&T disconnects your services, you basically have a fat iPod Touch- you'll need to be on a Wi-Fi network to use anything that requires Internet access.
