Can you be tracked if you make a fake facebook profile? - Me M - 11-09-2012 09:55 AM

If you are impersonating someone on facebook, is it illegal? And any punishment under cyber laws? Infact can u be traced?

Has anyone been booked so far for making fake profiles of their friends or impersonating an ordinary guy?

Not intended to make a profit out of it. Just for fun.

You could be banned on facebook if lods of people report you

Impersonation is against the law, so yes it would be illegal. You can be traced easily as Facebook will keep log files of all activity. Law enforcement agencies will be able to track you down via your ISP.

yes dear, they can trace you
no one safe on the internet unless you are a very experienced guy with networking and technology
most of hackers are using untraceable ways the surf the internet

and if you are asking is it legal or not, sure it is not
Stealing user information (phishing) and impersonating a user (ID theft) are serious cyber crimes.

but if you don't want to expose your identity on the internet, yes you can
but don't use for doing non-ethical postings

hope this help Wink

If they don't know your impersonating them then yes it is illegal. But you will only be caught if lots of people report you, even at that chances are you'll only be banned from facebook and no legal suits will be brought against you.

If some1 blocks u n selects d option impersonating some1 ur account will be disabled ..Its illegal ..Dont know bout what criminal action can be taken..

Facebook says when you first get one that Nicknames and fake names or someone elses name, and all that crap is a NO NO. Impersonating is illegal(unless it's elvis haha... never mind). Point is, Facebook is for people to find people they know, not chat with random people like Gamelord1000(example). Save it for the chatrooms. You will just annoy people and get kicked off of FB. If it becomes a big issue, you will be tracked and HUNTED DOWN. Dude, it's not worth it.
