My Dad called me ugly....on Facebook and in real life...? - â„“a - 11-09-2012 09:56 AM
Basically, I had posted up a new profile picture that I liked and he commented saying "Ugly duckling" And one of my friends commented saying: "That is not nice" and after that, I had gotten lots of messages asking why he was behaving like that, yada yada. One friend, knew about this happening at home too and she was like "Not to be rude, but your Dad shouldn't rest you like that"
He does it at home in front of guests and always calls me a retard infront of my friends. He always asks my friends "Why is she such a retard?"
All in all, it upsets me. I actually cried today and my mom saw so I ran into my room. It really degrades me. he doens't understand that I'm a teenager and that my feelings are sensitive, especially with this topic. Also, I go to an all girls school so I am surrounded by prettier people..
How can I get over this? My mom is going to tell him.

Call him ugly! No one should be treated like that expecially by their parents. Block hime from facebook and next time he calls u a retard ask him "give me one good reason to why i am one" cause making you emotionally upset is child abuse!

My Dad and I have this running joke thing where he calls me names and, in return, I get to call him names.
But in your case, it may or may not be because he simply doesn't know how to deal with you. My grandfather is A LOT like that. He insults me all the time and acts like its a joke, and sincerely believes its funny.
Tell him he needs to stop if he's serious, and if he thinks he's only joking let him know that you don't find it funny. If he cares enough, he will stop.

my dad pretty much calls me useless. i just ignore him. i know i'm not and he's a jerk. he's trying to "force" me to get married just so i'll move out of home. IF i get married it will to a guy of MY choice NOT his. apparently our dads are very childish and need to grow up. best thing you can do is to ignore him.

im sorry that you're going through this. im sure your dad doesnt realize that he is hurting your feelings. the "ugly duckling" comment, ironically sounds like he is being affectionate. & i think that when he calls you retarded in front of your friends, he is tryin to be "the cool dad". talk to him & let him know that it makes you sad. if you dint want to talk to him directly, write him a letter. he'll stop once he knows that he's hurting your feelings.
