Why is Facebook making Timeline mandatory and not optional? - Karla - 11-09-2012 10:02 AM

Facebook hasn't seemed to really give a reason as to why Timeline is being made mandatory? Is there any reasoning as to why it can't stay optional? I don't think this Timeline thing is a good idea and I don't think it will last honestly. How long does anyone think before Facebook reverts back to old profiles? I just don't understand why Timeline can't stay optional.

Timeline allows them to include more advertisements on your profile

because supporting two different types of profiles costs the company more money

Like with many things in life, their view is 'this is what you want, if you don't like it then leave.'
They think that it's going to be an improvement, which is unlikely. The current style is fine, 'if it isn't broken, don't fix it.'

Once Timeline is enabled on your account you can't get rid of it, if you want to give Facebook feedback about Timeline you need to write to them directly via their official Timeline feedback form here: https://www.facebook.com/help/contact_us.php?id=235841249796277

BTW It is possible to view all timeline pages in the faster loading and more user friendly old style profile page format, if you follow this simple guide:

If you look closely, you will notice the page has received over 11,000 likes from people who have found the solution to work and be helpful.
