Can you search specifically for groups that need admins? I realize this sounds ridiculous but I enjoy administrating groups for things I enjoy. Is there any way to find groups that are without admins?

You don't sound ridiculous. This is a section where you can ask questions about facebook, and your question IS about facebook.
As to answering your question, unfortunately there isn't such an option in the Advanced Search. You'll need to just search groups and go to each group's page to check whether there is an admin or not. Good luck.
