Ads everywhere on Google chrome and facebook? - Marie - 11-09-2012 10:06 AM

Hi My friend referres me to google chrome because for some reason, facebook kept logging me out on internet explorer. Now im on chrome and anything i put into the search engine (bing) has ads all over it. Then I went on facebook and ads were all over it. I have malwarebytes. Didnt come up with anything and AVG never said I had anything. I dont get whats wrong with it. There are no ads right now on yahooanswers but they are on searches and facebook. I have a windows vista computer.

Chrome is evil! Use firefox!

Download AdBlock for Chrome and install it. It works and it's free.

AdBlock for google chrome works. But there is no way to remove ads on facebook, as they are sponsored by facebook.

If something unusual in ad display? it smells Adware. then try HitmanPro(google it), a malicious software detector. Only works with internet connected. Take scan and delete suspicious entries if any.
OR
Use Virus Removal Tool from Kaspersky.

Try these tweaks:
CHROME> wrench icon> Preferences> Under the hood> Content settings> Cookies (heading): tick "Allow local data..." & "Ignore exceptions and block 3rd party..."> close tab.
Add-on's for Chrome:
AdBlock Plus (needs 'subscription' added after install).
https://chrome.google.com/webstore/search?q=ad+block
"KB SSL Enforcer" add-on: https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/flcpelgcagfhfoegekianiofphddckof
Another 'privacy' setting I recommend, also in "Content settings" >tick " Do not allow any site to track my physical location", and uncheck "Allow background applications to run".

I don't use Bing, but there might be a related issue with 'targeted advertising' there.
