Inappropriate Facebook Ads?!? - Joseph Baumbach - 11-09-2012 10:10 AM

I don't know if anyone else is having the same kind of problem, but I have been getting these horrible ads with 'Eastern Women' kind of porn-like junk. It's becoming ridiculous. I'd like to get rid of them. Can anyone tell me how?

I've tried scanning my computer for viruses, but taking care of any cookies that may have installed them or whatever has not worked. I don't have a security program, so I may have just been hacked or something, I don't know, I'm not a computer techie.

I've tried contacting Facebook, but I've looked through countless HELP pages, without finding out a correct way to contact.

Help from a fellow interwebster would be greatly obliged, thank you.

If you are using Google Chrome you can get a extension called Ad Blocker

You can block those advertisement by clicking "X" button next to the ads. Then , Facebook will ask you why do you want to block. Now , it'll not appear again in your browser.

Post a picture of someone's ultrasound - you'll be getting ads for pampers and enfamil in no time. I'm only half joking about this as they track you to "personalize" ads.

It sounds like you have inadvertently installed a type of program known as "adware", that inserts ads into websites that you visit. Firstly you should remove any browser extensions or software that you installed recently that you think might be inserting the ads. If that doesnt fix it, the next step is to install and run some anti malware scanning software such as Malwarebytes Antimalware or SuperAntiSpyware to get rid of it.

BTW once you have cleaned that up, a great way to remove the normal ads (sponsored posts / stories) on facebook is to install the FB Purity browser extension, its 100% safe & has lots of features for keeping your facebook clean: http://fbpurity.com
