So someone hacked my Facebook and got as far as changing my password but since they were using a device my profile didnt recognize they had to identify my friends and couldn't complete this step. So will my password stay the same?

No if they have changed the password then it will be changed for solving this just check out your email id which you have registered at the time of creating your account.

if they couldnt identify your friends, then your password will be the same
