Hello! I realize that we can't block progress-but I read on Facebook somewhere that all of one's friends would see Timeline, but could set our own view of our account to the old format of profile/updates.

Although its not possible to totally remove timeline from your account, you can view all personal timeline pages in the better old style profile page format, if you follow this simple guide:
